Divided back postcard depicting R. M. S. Virginian (Allan Line 12,000 Tons, Turbine. No publisher name is given on the card, although the text "State Series, Liverpool" appears, as does a logo with an intertwined "PSC", as well as the initials "NLLT" in the stamp box. The card was printed in Saxony. Postcard is unused and undated, but was probably issued ca. 1905–1914.
The R. M. S. Virginian was built for the Canadian Allan Line in 1905. During the First World War she served for Canada as a troop transport. She was damaged by a German U-Boat on August 21, 1917. In 1920 Canadian Pacific Steamships, which had acquired the Allan Line in 1917, sold the Virginian to the Swedish American Line.
